If you’re searching for New Brunswick’s very own MacLaren’s or Cheers, where everybody really does know your name, look no further than the George Street Ale House.  The friendliest wait staff and barhands in the city are only the tip of the spear in this superbly well rounded restaurant and bar that excels in everything from cuisine and cocktails to special events and daily deals.  Their signature Das Burger (fried gouda, applewood smoked bacon, pork roll, a jumbo onion ring, and chipotle mayonnaise) is every bit as essential to the modern Rutgers experience as fat sandwiches at the food trucks once were.  While there’s not a bad choice to be found on the drink list (and I would know, I’ve had them all), the secret menu is where it’s really at: ask Lou, Matt, or Zack for one of “Cowboy’s Cocktails.”  If you’re still thirsty after that, take a shot of the “Walk of Shame.”  Try the Ale House once and you’ll be a regular in no time.
